We ended up having dinner, shopping and one of the guys really was hoping to be able to find a new tire of a specific brand. We ended up not getting home until about 1am. Sounds really late, but because of Ramadan it was strange. Going into the city arriving around 7pm there was hardly any traffic, but as the evening got later there was more and more traffic. The city lived up to its reputation for driving. The opportunistic driving I feel is a direct result of the challenging road conditions: lack of traffic lights, narrow streets, etc. The evening was enjoyable and profitable. I enjoyed dinner, but wasn't impressed when my dinner came with french fries. Was hoping for a more authentic middle eastern dish according to my preconceived notions.
He also snapped a few pictures....
You've got to love being able to buy gas at $0.46/gallon. For those that would like to check the math: $1 = 3.75 Riyals, 1 gallon = 3.78 liters. So 10.9 gallons was bought for $5.07. Full service too, noone had to even get out of the car.
